Use Overlays To Create The Most Enticing Shoppable Video Content
June 15th, 2021
Shoppable video is the way forward. InsideRetail noted a recent study showing 41% of its viewers add products to their cart as a result of interactive video. The powers of shoppable video have been proven time and time again. The flexibility of shoppable video also allows it to be applied to different content and products. We’ve compiled our favorite examples of shoppable video content below for you to peruse and inspire your next shoppable video experience in WIREWAX Studio.
Mango (watch the full experience here) uses shoppable video content to provide more detailed product information like price, description, and a thorough photo gallery in order to prioritize product discoverability. Mango also uses a clear “Buy Now” CTA in their overlays paired with images that leave the audience with that “must-have” feeling. Remember the story you’re trying to tell (or sell).
Jansport (watch the full experience here) makes the most of shoppable video content by sticking with their company aesthetic, taking design notes from their own website and brand guidelines. It is important to be pulling inspiration from your existing materials while also gathering a color palette, fonts, and small details that make your overlay immediately recognizable (think logos, the way your brand may show close buttons, etc).
Neiman Marcus (watch the full experience here) capitalizes on their shoppable video content by keeping it simple-white space is always your friend. We believe in grouping all the content you want to share with your viewers into different overlay types and spreading them out throughout the experience. Cramming in blocks of text is often much less effective than spreading it out and complementing it with beautiful imagery.
UNNA (watch the full experience here) adds movement and animations to keep visual interest. Try uploading a simple background video to your Studio, then use that embed link within another video’s overlay background using our iFrame widget. Experiment with uploading animated gifs to add little flourishes to your overlays and bring your shoppable video content designs to the next level.
Loblaws (watch the full experience here) keeps viewers engaged and interested in their shoppable content by Diversifying the size of overlays. In the WIREWAX Studio, creators can manipulate the size of overlays depending on the goal of your video. Whether it’s a lower third, half screen, or small product page, changing the size of your overlay can help the viewer to better interact with your content. You can either pause the video while the overlay is opened, or keep your video playing.
