As you’ve learned in our previous article, All About Hotspots, crafting the perfect overlay is where all your creative skills come into play in WIREWAX Studio. We’ve listened to your feedback and made significant improvements to the overlay editor that allow you to create the perfect vessel for connecting your video to the rest of the web. Whether it’s a shoppable photo gallery, video-in-video experience or informative companion content, overlays take your interactive videos to the next level.
The Overlay Editor
Get familiar with the tools at your disposal in the Overlay editor below.
Text boxes and buttons
Create text boxes and buttons in fonts of your choosing to provide more information for your viewer, and even click them out to an external URL where desired. Easily customize the shape of any buttons using the radius slider.
Import images into your overlay - choosing more than one image will create a carousel for your viewers to click through.
👩🏼💻Smart Tip:: For the best quality, upload .JPG images (or .PNG for transparent images) no larger than 1920x1080 and around 150kb maximum.
Import extra footage behind-the-scenes action, or even interactive videos to be played within your overlay.
👩🏼💻Smart Tip:: To import a video, use either a Youtube link or a WIREWAX video link (http://embed.wirewax.com/XXXXXXX/) with your WIREWAX 7-digit video ID at the end.
Create a unique backdrop for your overlays by using square and circle shapes instead of a default style.
👩🏼💻Smart Tip:: Take the overlay’s background color to 0% opacity to create your own design with images, colorful shapes, and text boxes.
Maps and iFrames
Import a Map from Google Maps, or content from any webpage that allows for iFraming.
Using WIREWAX Overlay templates
For those who need a quick creative fix, WIREWAX’s brand team has cooked up a brand-new batch of templates that you can modify to your liking, or take as they are and run with them. Here you’ll also find inspiration for creating overlays that fit your content perfectly. Find these templates in the top lefthand corner of the overlay editor.
Saving your own Overlay templates
Once you’ve perfected your masterpiece, save your overlays as templates to be used over and over again in the same video, or future videos.
👩🏼💻Smart Tip:: Use the layers panel on the righthand side to overlap and arrange your overlay elements and create depth.
